Bartley Christian Church’s Lay Counselling Ministry offers faith-based, non-clinical counselling and prayer support for people experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, and other life challenges. It also signposts community helplines and services for additional help.
Overview
Free counselling services are provided by lay counsellors for a range of issues, including:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Interpersonal relationships
- Parenting
- Emotional distress
- Grief/Bereavement
- Workplace problems
- Anger management
- Low self-esteem
The service is open to everyone, regardless of faith, ethnicity, or status.

Eligibility details
Open to the community and general public. Suitable for individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, or other emotional challenges who would like Christian, biblically-informed support. Not appropriate for psychiatric emergencies (in crises, call emergency helplines or go to IMH/general hospital A&E).
How to apply
Submit a request via the website’s “Request Counselling” form or send an enquiry through the site. Note that they are unable to accept requests for the following issues:
- Abuse and Violence
- Suicidal/ Self-Harm
- Clinical Depression
- Substance Abuse
- Complex Trauma and PTSD
- Personality Disorder
- Psychosis (e.g. Hallucinations, Delusions, Schizophrenia)
