Empowering Mums
Empowering Mums is a YWCA Singapore initiative that supports low-income mothers in enhancing their employability through skills workshops, support groups, and post-programme assistance.
Overview
Empowering Mums is an annual project by YWCA of Singapore launched in 2015 to equip back-to-work mothers from low-income families with life and work skills to improve their employability holistically. The program includes free support group work and employability skills workshops over 6 to 10 weeks, culminating in a professional makeover, graduation ceremony, and meet-and-greet with potential employers. Post-project support sessions are held monthly for six months. The program also provides meals, transport, and childminding for children above 2 years old during sessions to enable mothers to participate without worry.
