Social Innovation Fund

A regional grantmaking initiative by Octava Foundation focused on improving access to quality education for underserved learners across Southeast Asia.

• Provides early-stage funding and support to solutions that address barriers of accessibility, availability, affordability, and quality in education
• Works at three levels: in-country engagement to strengthen learning outcomes and school leadership; ecosystem collaboration with funders, government, and educators; and piloting/scaling innovative models
• Prioritises areas with poor education outcomes, foundational learning, school leadership development, and integration of 21st-century skills into public curricula
• Bridges EdTech innovation into public school systems, supporting accessible, affordable solutions aligned to curriculum and informed by learning science
• Key initiatives include: Octava Social Innovation Challenge with MIT Solve (support for EdTech solutions), Future School Transformation with Starfish Education (principal training, makerspaces, literacy pedagogy), and support for Wedu’s Future Income Sharing Agreements to expand education financing for women leaders across Southeast Asia
• Supports collective action such as the Education Collective for Timor-Leste to drive system-level change and improve learning outcomes
