Overview
The Appropriate Adult Scheme for Young Suspects (AAYS) provides trained volunteers to support young people aged 10 to below 18 during police or law enforcement interviews.
Volunteers act as neutral parties, facilitate communication, and offer emotional support to ensure the well-being of young suspects throughout the interview process.
The scheme operates 24/7 and is managed by Care Corner Singapore, appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Eligibility details
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, attend a compulsory briefing and full-day training session, commit to a minimum service period of one year (with annual renewal), and support at least four activations per year. Current staff of MHA or its law enforcement agencies, and SPF Volunteer Special Constabulary, are not eligible due to conflict of interest.
