Overview

The Public Assistance Programme by SBWS offers support to individuals and families in need through:

  • Monthly financial assistance (cash grants)
  • Monthly food rations

Eligibility is assessed through home visits every 6 months. The programme targets:

  • Individuals who are financially constrained
  • Unemployed persons due to age, sickness, or disability
  • Low-income families with children or members with special needs
  • Families affected by unexpected circumstances

Referrals are accepted from:

  • Hospitals
  • Family service centres
  • Grassroots organisations
  • Public agencies

Additional assistance includes:

  • Pocket allowances for needy students
  • Monthly food ration deliveries

Eligibility details

Applicants must be:

  • Individuals financially constrained or unemployed due to old age, sickness, or disability, and not eligible for government financial assistance.
  • Low-income families with young children and/or family members who are elderly, disabled, sick, or have special needs.
  • Families affected by unexpected circumstances (e.g., loss of breadwinner, permanent disability). Applicants are assessed through home visits every 6 months. Referrals accepted from hospitals, family service centres, grassroots organisations, and public agencies.
