Overview

Matched Retirement Savings Scheme (MRSS)

  • Provides eligible Singaporean seniors with a dollar-for-dollar matching grant for cash top-ups to their CPF Retirement Account (RA) or Special Account (SA).

  • From 2026, Singaporeans with disabilities below age 55 will also be eligible.

  • Receive up to $2,000 per year, with a lifetime limit of $20,000.

  • Eligibility is automatically assessed annually.

  • Matching grant is credited at the start of the following year.

  • Cash top-ups can be made by:

  • The individual

  • Loved ones

  • Employers

  • Community members

  • Top-ups can be one-time or recurring via GIRO.

  • Helps boost retirement savings for eligible individuals.

Eligibility details

Eligibility is automatically assessed each year. Criteria: Singapore Citizen, age 55 and above as of 31 December of the assessment year (from 2026, also Singaporeans with disabilities below age 55), Retirement Account savings less than $106,500 (Basic Retirement Sum for 2025), average monthly income not more than $4,000, annual value of residence not more than $21,000. Must be a Singapore Citizen when the matching grant is credited. From 2025, no age cap (previously 70).

How to apply

No application needed; eligibility is automatically assessed. If eligible, make cash top-ups to your Retirement Account by 31 December via one-time payment or recurring GIRO arrangement. The matching grant is credited automatically at the start of the following year. Cash top-ups can be made by yourself, loved ones, employers, or community members. For recurring GIRO, set up via CPF website forms.
