Overview
The Workfare Skills Support (WSS) Scheme Encourages lower-wage workers in Singapore to undertake training for better employment outcomes.
Key Benefits:
- Training allowance: Up to $6/hour (capped at 180 hours)
- Commitment awards: Up to $1,000
- Absentee payroll for employers: Up to 95% of hourly salary (capped at $13/hour)

Eligibility details
Eligibility criteria: Singapore Citizen; at least 30 years old, or at least 13 years old for Persons with Special Needs; currently employed (including self-employed who declare Net Trade Income and make MediSave contributions); gross monthly income not more than $3,000 (from Jul 2025 onwards) for the past 12 months; lives in property with annual value less than $21,000 (as at 31 Dec of preceding year); owns fewer than two properties; if married, together with spouse own fewer than two properties and spouse’s assessable income for preceding Year of Assessment is less than $70,000. For training allowance: must have taken eligible course after 1 Jul 2020, completed and passed the course, paid for own training, and not barred from receiving SSG/WSG/e2i grants.
How to apply
Check eligibility by logging in with Singpass. For self-employed, submit TA claims online within 120 days after course ends, with required documents (Contract for Service/Agreement, ACRA business registration, business transaction document). For employees, no application needed for TA; employer makes regular CPF contributions. No application needed for Training Commitment Award; notification sent via SMS/letter.
